ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PLATFORMS AND DIGITAL PEDAGOGY IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE EDUCATION
Abstract
The accelerated development of digital technologies has profoundly impacted the foreign language education domain in the 21st century. Of the technological advancements, the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) is found to have the potential to transform the domain by creating intelligent learning platforms. The concept of digital pedagogy is found to have redefined the traditional teaching methods by incorporating learner-centered, technological, and critical thinking strategies. The aim of this particular article is to investigate the role of AI platforms, taking into consideration the context of digital pedagogy in foreign language education. Moreover, there is an analysis of how AI technologies, such as intelligent tutoring systems, natural language processing tools, and automatic assessment tools, contribute to the improvement of language acquisition and learners’ engagement. The results indicate that although the potential of the AI technologies is not sufficient to replace human interaction in the process of language acquisition, they are extremely useful as additional tools that make the educational process more efficient.
