CHALLENGES OF DEVELOPING SPEAKING SKILLS UNDER TRADITIONAL TEACHING PARADIGMS
Abstract
This study explores the effectiveness of structured speaking methods, activities and AIbased techniques in improving English fluency and self-confidence among ESL and EFL learners. Although the focus on learning foreign languages especially English is increasing, many classrooms are still relying on passive, didactic approach and technology-free methods that limit interactive speaking opportunities. This paper argues that integrated gamification, peer-interaction and corrective feedback can significantly boost not only students’ speaking levels, but also their confidence in speaking fluently. Drawing on existing digital opportunities and classroom-based observations, the study discusses how creative methods spark engagement on students leading to a better and faster progress. The latest findings suggest that modern language instructions should prioritize interactive and active participation-driven approaches to maximize students’ speaking skills.
