DEVELOPING STUDENTS’ COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE THROUGH A SOCIOCULTURAL APPROACH: A SYSTEM OF EXERCISES
Abstract
This article explores the development of students’ communicative competence through a sociocultural approach in foreign language education. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating cultural and social dimensions into language teaching to enhance learners’ ability to communicate effectively in real-life contexts. A system of exercises designed on the basis of sociocultural principles is analyzed, highlighting its key characteristics such as contextualization, interactivity, cultural integration, and reflective learning. The paper argues that such exercises contribute not only to linguistic proficiency but also to intercultural awareness and pragmatic competence.
