Abstract

The rapid digital transformation of education has considerably influenced language teaching, making digital literacy a core competence for contemporary educators. This paper examines how teachers’ digital literacy encompassing technical skill, pedagogical design, ethical awareness and reflective practice enables the creation of engaging, inclusive, and authentic learning experiences. Drawing on recent research and real-life classroom examples, the study highlights opportunities such as personalized learning, AI-assisted feedback, virtual exchanges, and multimodal instruction, while addressing challenges including unequal access, ethical dilemmas and potential loss of communicative authenticity. The paper also offers practical strategies for developing teachers’ digital competence through pre-employment training, continuous professional development, peer mentoring and reflective practice. Digital literacy is be essential for maintaining quality, equity and human-centered pedagogy in language education.
