The TFL Teacher as a Cultural Mediator
Abstract
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly being used in education, providing interactive tools that increase student engagement and support teachers. However, AI can distort cultural norms, which leads to misunderstandings among students. When Teaching Foreign Languages (TFL), a human teacher acts as a cultural mediator, identifying possible misinterpretations, providing contextual explanations, and guiding students step by step. The implementation of the cultural selection protocol ensures that Artificial Intelligence learning promotes both language proficiency and cultural competence.
