Chatbots and Virtual Tutors: The Linguistic and Pedagogical Potential of AI in Language Education
Abstract
Artificial intelligence has become an important part of modern language education, and
chatbots as well as virtual tutors are now widely used to support learners in new ways. This work
examines the growing use of artificial intelligence in language education, focusing on how
chatbots and virtual tutors support learners through interactive communication and personalized
practice. It explains why these tools have become widely used, what linguistic features they can
offer, and how they function from a pedagogical perspective. The study also highlights the
advantages of AI, such as immediate feedback and flexible learning opportunities, while
addressing challenges including occasional inaccuracies and limited cultural understanding.
Overall, the paper explores how AI-based tools can complement traditional teaching methods
and discusses their potential to improve the process of learning a foreign language.
